Sunnybanks does what it says on the tin and is a beautiful cottage in a sunny, south facing position in the village of Askrigg, overlooking the village and with glorious views to the hill of Addleborough across Wensleydale. It is a traditional longhouse which means that you have a view from every window. Sunnybanks has everything that you need for modern living but is still a true stone built Dales cottage, with rooms on different levels, beamed ceilings, plank doors, deepset windows and two fireplaces to keep you cosy on cooler nights.
Downstairs there is a shaker style kitchen, a living room with easy chairs, dining table and multifuel stove and a separate lounge with two comfy sofas and a further multifuel stove. Upstairs there is a very spacious master bedroom with super king-size bed, a large single bedroom, a house shower room with walk in shower, and a mini-suite with an en-suite bathroom with bath with shower over and a king-sized bedroom. Wifi broadband and satellite TV are also provided.
Sunnybanks has a calm and restful atmosphere, decorated with Laura Ashley fabrics and Farrow and Ball traditional paint colours. You can enjoy the fabulous views from either inside or outside the cottage and the south facing garden catches the sun for much of the day.
The holiday cottage is away from the village centre but still only a few minutes walk from the pubs, tearooms, village shop and deli. It has a garden with lawn and flower beds and a small barn next to the cottage that can be used for wet gear and bike storage.
Askrigg itself is a thriving village in Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is an ideal centre for touring the area, with walks from the door in abundance.
The front door leads into a small vestibule with the cosy lounge to one side and the living room to the other. The living room has both comfy seating and a farmhouse style dining table and a second multifuel stove. From this room there is a broad step up to the well equipped kitchen which has a bench seat to enjoy the views and a back door leading to the old stone barn at the side of the cottage which is a great facility for drying off walking gear and bike storage.
The stairs lead up from the front door with the master bedroom off to the left with its super-king wooden bed. Off to the right is the house shower room, then the large single bedroom and then at the end of the house a king-sized bedroom with its own en-suite bathroom with bath and shower over. All of the bedroom windows face south and every bed has the wonderful view across the valley. There are traditional plank doors with wrought iron door furniture throughout the cottage and beamed ceilings aplenty.
Outside the cottage has a level garden with large lawned area and a patio next to the house. There is one parking space to the rear of the property and plenty of roadside parking on a first come first served basis nearby.
Please note that the cottage is built into the hill partially at the rear so there are different levels inside which means that it may not be suitable if people have difficulty with steps and stairs. There is also a path through the garden which the next door neighbour may use occasionally to access their cottage, although they more frequently use the lane behind both properties to do so.
Multi-fuel stove in living room and lounge, oil fired central heating, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, tumble drier, fridge, electric fan oven/grill, ceramic hob, toaster, cafetiere, kettle, DVD Player radio/cassette/CD player, Wireless broadband, tourist information, maps, books, games, hairdrier, iron and ironing board, torch. Duvets, bedlinen and tea towel provided, en-suite bathroom with bath and shower over, toilet, washhand basin, electric heated towel rail and shaver point, separate shower room with washhand basin, and electric heated towel rail, private garden with lawns and patio, garden furniture. The cottage does have one designated parking place, and there is roadside parking near the cottage. Village shops and pubs 2-3 minutes walk. Children welcome but please bring your own cot and high chair.
Electricity included in the hire charge, coal will be provided for the multifuel stove with the first bucket of coal provided in the hire charge. We ask that you pay us 50p per bucket of coal after that on an honesty basis to cover our costs, and we will ensure that sufficient coal is available for your stay. Firelighters, and matches are provided so that you have everything that you need to use the stove should you so wish.
Towel hire available. One well-behaved pet welcome but they must not be allowed on the furniture or upstairs or be left unattended in the cottage-please note that most of the pubs in the village welcome dogs (and their owners!)

Towel Hire £5 per person per week or short break.
Pets - £25 per week or short break.
During the winter season (prior to Easter or the end of March and after the end of October) we offer short breaks for 3 nights commencing on Fridays or 4 nights commencing on Mondays, or any combination of 3 and 4 night short breaks, excluding Christmas, and New Year. Christmas, and New Year weeks are also available for a minimum of 7 nights commencing on the day advised in the price list. During the main summer season we offer holidays for 7 nights commencing on Fridays, if a week is not let at short notice we will offer short breaks please check availability and the Late Availability page.
Please note that we charge a Good Housekeeping Deposit of £50 per week or short break, details in the terms and conditions section, the final balance figures include this amount.
If the holiday is booked less than 7 weeks prior to your arrival, then full payment is requested at the time of booking.
Deposits are approximately one third of the total hire charge.
