Each of the Yorkshire Dales has its own unique character, as you will see from the selection of photographs above. The Northern Dales are Wharfedale, Wensleydale and Swaledale with their tributary dales amongst which are Bishopdale and Arkengarthdale. Common to them all is the distinctive limestone scenery, and this is undoubtedly fine walking country, with walks from the door of every one of our cottages, ranging from easy to challenging.

There is fantastic wildlife, from the protected haymeadows to the grouse and deer on the moors. You can join in the regular local markets and shows, feed a lamb at one of the open farms, and enjoy the home cooking in the local pubs, retaurants and tea rooms. You can hire a bike, try your hand at falconry, catch a trout for your tea, brush up on your photography or simply relax and unwind! Whatever your preference, there is always plenty happening in the area.
