Honeypot Cottage, Askrigg
Honeypot Cottage is one of the more exclusive cottages in Askrigg, uniquely stylish and luxurious and in an excellent location near the top of the village’s main street, with the added bonus in this village of a private garden and parking. A stay at Honeypot offers the best of both worlds as an exceptionally comfortable base for a holiday or short break at any time of year. There is a wide choice of walks straight from the cottage, including the famous Askrigg ‘Waterfalls Walk’, and no need to use the car at all if you don’t want to, with excellent restaurants, pubs, teashops and the other village shops literally a minute’s walk just down the street.
The cottage retains many original features with shuttered sash windows, stripped pine doors, cupboards built into every nook and cranny, a traditional staircase with a window on the half landing, and eaves coming down into the twin bedroom to give the room a really cosy feeling. Co-ordinating fabrics and furnishings have been used throughout the cottage, including Laura Ashley furniture and Farrow and Ball paints. This is a superbly equipped cottage that is welcoming and full of character.
You enter the cottage through a small entrance porch, and from this into the lovely living room with its shuttered windows, oak floor and tongue and groove panelled walls and ceiling. There is a cosy multi fuel stove with a local stone mantlepiece, and Laura Ashley settee and chairs. The original, traditional cupboard to the left of the fireplace now provides handy storage for tourist information, books, and DVDs. The dining room is light and comfortable with a cream French style armoire, dining table and chairs and a pretty sideboard. Through an archway is the fully fitted, cream farmhouse style kitchen with oak worktop and a French style butchers block. In short, you have everything that you need to produce a 4-course gourmet meal for four, or a simple snack. There is also a useful cloakroom downstairs with WC and washbasin.
The feature staircase in the centre of the cottage has a window on the half landing making it bright and airy. This leads up to the Master Bedroom with king size, antique style cream wrought iron bed, cream wardrobe and antique pine chest of drawers with TV and DVD player. There is a pretty twin bedroom with cream wrought iron headboards, a built in wardrobe and sloping ceilings under the cottage eaves. The house bathroom is spacious with a roll top bath, WC, washbasin, shaver point and separate shower.
Outside a fenced and gravelled path leads to the secluded and sunny patio garden with its lilac hedge, garden furniture and charcoal barbeque. There is private parking for one car with further onstreet parking in front of the cottage.
Multi-fuel stove in the living room, oil central heating throughout, dishwasher, microwave, washer/drier, electric cooker with fan oven, traditional oven and ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, toaster, cafetiere, TV’s in living room and Master bedroom, Sky TV (Variety channels), DVD player and recorder, radio/CD player, wireless broadband, tourist information, books, games, shoe cleaning kit, hairdryer, electric blankets on all beds, iron and ironing board, torch, bedlinen, towels and tea-towels provided, house bathroom with separate shower, bath, WC, wash hand basin and shaver point. Downstairs cloakroom. Private garden with furniture and BBQ. Afternoon tea hamper provided for your arrival. Oil, electricity and coal included in the rental. Sorry no pets or smokers. Private parking for one car.

Towels are included
Holidays are available for a minimum of 7 nights commencing on Saturdays from Easter / end of March to the end of October. Christmas, and New Year weeks are also available for a minimum of 7 nights commencing on the day advised in the price list. From November to Easter / end of March we change to short breaks for 3 nights commencing on Fridays or 4 nights commencing on Mondays, or any combination of 3 and 4 night short breaks, excluding Christmas, and New Year.
Please note that we charge a Good Housekeeping Deposit of £50 per week or short break, details in the terms and conditions section, the final balance figures include this amount.
If the holiday is booked less than 7 weeks prior to your arrival, then full payment is requested at the time of booking.
Deposits are approximately one third of the total hire charge.
