Faith Hill, Askrigg
If your idea of a great holiday is to stay in a traditional, comfortable, detached cottage with beamed ceilings and an open fire in a popular village with 3 pubs and shops, then Faith Hill could be the cottage for you. It offers farmhouse style living with a large living room, a dining kitchen and 3 bedrooms.
There has been a cottage called Faith Hill on the same site since the 1700’s, so that the cottage and this area of the village both have the same name and no-one can now remember which came first!. Faith Hill is owned by and adjoins the working village farm, Town Head, and the owners supply the local area with milk, eggs and cream, so you will never run short of these during your stay!
Faith Hill is a traditional double fronted cottage next to the quiet road over from Wensleydale into Swaledale. There is small front entrance porch and the front door opens directly into the large, beamed ceilinged, dual aspect living room with its comfortable seating around the open fire, and traditional dresser. There are a couple of steps up into the farmhouse style dining kitchen. This room also has windows to both the front and back of the cottage, at the rear overlooking the small ‘garth’ behind the cottage, a local dialect word derived from Norse for a small grass paddock close to the farmhouse.
From the kitchen there is a small lobby with the back door leading out into a paved patio area with garden furniture, and from this into an enclosed area next to the cottage, with ample parking for at least 3 cars.
Upstairs there is a dual aspect king size master bedroom, a double bedroom and a large twin bedroom, along with the house bathroom with a separate shower and bath.
Open fire in living room, widescreen TV, video and DVD player with a selection of videos, DVD’s and local books. CD player/radio, Sky TV, Wireless broadband. Oil central heating throughout the cottage, and logs and coal supplied for the open fire. Electricity also included in the hire cost. Farmhouse dining kitchen with pine table and chairs, electric double oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster, cafetiere. Tourist information, maps, books, hairdrier, iron and ironing board, torch, bedlinen and tea towels provided.
Upstairs is the house bathroom with bath, separate shower, electric shaver point, WC and washbasin. Kingsize master bedroom, double bedroom and large twin bedroom, Master bedroom with a settee and TV to relax away from it all should you so wish.
Outside there is a private patio garden with garden furniture, and enclosed area next door with offroad parking for at least 3 cars. Tea tray and fresh milk for your arrival. Milk, eggs and cream available from the owners who are dairy farmers and supply the local area. Oil, coal, logs and electricity included in the hire cost. Towel hire available. Sorry no smoking inside the cottage. One well behaved pet by prior arrangement.
