Burn Cottage, Askrigg
Burn Cottage is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Behind its pretty cream exterior is a delightful & quirky home from home which is absolutely crammed with character & comfort, including two bathrooms. The cottage is in the centre of Askrigg, one of the Yorkshire Dales most popular villages, and has been renovated beautifully, whilst retaining all of the stone built charm of its heritage in the 1800’s. Laura Ashley fabrics, Farrow and Ball paints and hand made furniture contribute to the real cottage feel of Burn, which has its own very special atmosphere which you appreciate as soon as you walk through the door.
Burn Cottage has a wealth of original features with deepset windows, beamed ceilings, stone flagged and oak floors, stripped pine doors and a cosy multi fuel stove. Whilst the cottage remains true to its heritage, it also has the modern facilities that we look for now with two bathrooms, satellite TV and Wifi broadband. It is perfectly placed for you to enjoy the pubs, restaurants and shops of this thriving village in the glorious Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Accommodation
The cottage has a small entrance porch which leads through into the warm and welcoming sitting room at the front of the cottage with its beamed ceiling, oak floors, comfortable seating, antique pine dresser and multifuel stove. A door from the sitting room leads to the spacious and stone flagged farmhouse style dining kitchen with a white Shaker style kitchen, beamed ceiling, and antique pine dining table. Painted tongue and groove boarding adds to the cottage style. Downstairs there is also a separate toilet and a modern shower room. Upstairs is the master bedroom with an antique style wrought iron bed, second double bedroom with pretty views over gardens and to the hills beyond and a single bedroom. There is a further bathroom with bath, washbasin, toilet and airing cupboard. To the rear of the cottage there is a small private walled patio garden with furniture. Laura Ashley fabrics and Farrow and Ball paints are used throughout the cottage and add to its special cottage ambience.
Facilities
Multi-fuel stove in living room, storage heaters throughout the cottage, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine tumble drier, fridge, electric fan oven/grill, ceramic hob, toaster, cafetiere, kettle, Sky TV(Variety & Knowledge channels) Sky plus recorder, DVD Player radio/cassette/CD player, Wireless broadband, tourist information, maps, books, games, hairdrier, iron and ironing board, torch. Duvets, bedlinen, electric blankets and tea towel provided, bathroom with bath, toilet, washhand basin, electric heated towel rail and shaver point, separate shower room with washhand basin, and electric heated towel rail, down stairs toilet, private walled patio garden with furniture. Whilst the cottage does not have a designated parking place, parking is rarely a problem and there is both on street and off road parking within a few yards of the cottage. Village shops and pubs 2-3 minutes walk. Children welcome but please bring your own cot and high chair.
Electricity included in the hire charge, coal will be provided for the multifuel stove with the first bucket of coal provided in the hire charge. We ask that you pay us 50p per bucket of coal after that on an honesty basis to cover our costs, and we will ensure that sufficient coal is available for your stay. Firelighters, and matches are provided so that you have everything that you need to use the stove should you so wish.
Towel hire available. Sorry no pets or smokers.

Booking Notes
Towel Hire £4 per person per week or short break.
Holidays are available for a minimum of 7 nights commencing on Saturdays from Easter / end of March to the end of October. Christmas, and New Year weeks are also available for a minimum of 7 nights commencing on the day advised in the price list. From November to Easter / end of March we change to short breaks for 3 nights commencing on Fridays or 4 nights commencing on Mondays, or any combination of 3 and 4 night short breaks, excluding Christmas, and New Year.
Please note that we charge a Good Housekeeping Deposit of £50 per week or short break, details in the terms and conditions section, the final balance figures include this amount.
If the holiday is booked less than 7 weeks prior to your arrival, then full payment is requested at the time of booking.
Deposits are approximately one third of the total hire charge.
